De NSV bekroont eenmaal per twee jaar de beste sociologische dissertatie die in de twee voorafgaande jaren aan een Nederlandse universiteit is verdedigd.
Voor de jaren 2011 en 2012 waren de volgende vijf dissertaties voorgedragen:
- Tim Huijts, Social Ties and Health in Europe, Individual Associations, Cross-National Variations and Contextual Explanations (Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen)
- Judith Raven, Popular Support for Welfare State Reforms. On Welfare State Preferences and Welfare State Reforms in The Netherlands (Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam)
- Tobias Holger Stark, Integration in Schools. A Process Perspective on Students’ Internethnic Attitudes and Interpersonal Relationships (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen)
- Wouter Steenbeek, Social and Physical Disorder. How Community, Business Presence and Entrepreneurs influence Disorder in Dutch Neighborhoods (Universiteit Utrecht)
- Saskia Welschen, The Country we are supposed to be. ‘Born free’ South Africans talk about their Nation (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.)
De jury heeft na rijp beraad besloten dat de dissertatie van Tobias Stark, Integration in Schools, de prijs van de beste dissertatie in 2011 en 2012 verdiende.
